Progress

The framing package arrived yesterday.
And we also have a dumpster on the lot which I guess can protect us from the elements if it comes down to that.
They also chalked where the walls will go.
As I was walking the site a scene from Raising Arizona came into my mind.  It's not on YouTube so here are the lines.
...Lookahere, young sportsman. That - there's the kitchen area where Ma and Pa chow down. Over there's the TV, two hours a day maximum, either educational or football so's you don't ruin your appreciation of the finer things. This - here's the divan, for sociahzin' and relaxin' with the family unit. Yessir, many's the day we sat there and said wouldn't it be nice to have a youngster here to share our thoughts and feelin's -

Today they have the walls framed but not standing.
Now to some decorating ideas.  We want to do some chair rail yet the idea of mitering corners and the cost of molding gives us pause.  However, when looking at a model home we saw what looks like 1/2" x 4" flat board.  Here's a photo.
So the idea is to do this in the bedrooms and use it as a break between different paints.  Then, coincidentally - over at Just Beachy there was a similar project going on.  I don't think we'll be doing as much wood work - just a chair rail - keep it simple.

  1. Looks cool. You'll still want to miter the chair rail (even if it is just a board) ... but it should be a easier ... fun stuff.

There's a comment on just beachy about the advantage of a nail gun ... if you are going to do much of this type work, get one! I did way too much molding before doing so .... makes such a difference
